Are the pencils actually washable, and will the colour come off skin and clothes?
SES Creative rates these pencils as super washable. Marks on skin and most fabrics should come off with warm water, making them a practical choice for unsupervised toddler colouring sessions. As with all pigments, prompt washing gives the best results on clothing.
How do the XL pencils differ from standard coloured pencils in size?
The hexagonal barrel is noticeably thicker than a standard pencil - designed so that toddlers from 12 months can wrap their whole hand around it rather than needing a pincer grip. The pencils are also shorter than full-length adults pencils, keeping the centre of gravity low and control easier for small hands.
