The Tacto app runs on tablets 7 inches and above running iOS 11 or later (iPad 5th generation and above; iPad 2 and iPad Mini 1 are not supported), Android 6 or later with a minimum of 1 GB RAM, and select Amazon Fire tablets including the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10. How many chess pieces and game modes are included?
The box contains 12 plastic figurines - two complete sets of six pieces (King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook, and Pawn) in black and white - plus four anti-slip tablet frames and a Quick Start Guide. The free Tacto app unlocks four game modes and more than 500 levels ranging from beginner tutorials and 4x4 mini-puzzles through to full-board AI matches and two-player duels.
Do the Tacto Chess figurines need batteries or a Bluetooth connection?
No batteries or Bluetooth are required at any point. The figurines use the tablet's own touchscreen to register their position, so the only technology needed is the free Tacto app downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once set up, the game can be played offline - though an occasional internet connection is recommended to receive app updates and new content.
