The geared motor unit runs on 3 x AAA batteries, which are not included in the box. No batteries are needed for the building parts themselves - only for powering the motor during motorized model play.

The printed booklet covers 2 models with full step-by-step instructions. The remaining 38 model guides are available digitally through the Engino app, so a smartphone or tablet is needed to access those builds. The app also includes interactive 3D views and STEM theory activities.
