The LED light string runs on 2 x AA batteries, which are not included in the box. The battery compartment is built into the light string's controller unit, as visible in the kit contents image.
The kit contains 8 laser-cut wooden shapes in two nature-inspired designs - butterflies and flowers. Each shape has an open, fretwork-style pattern so the coloured LED light shines through the gaps once the garland is assembled, creating a glowing effect in the dark.
Children aged 6 and over can handle most of the steps - painting, adding glitter glue, and pressing on the self-adhesive diamond gems - without help. An adult should assist with threading the wooden shapes onto the LED string and with the initial set-up, as the cord presents a strangulation risk if not managed carefully.
