The toy uses the classic Jacob's Ladder mechanism - seven wooden panels are connected by interlaced ribbons so that tilting the head piece causes each panel to flip in sequence, creating the illusion of the segments cascading downward. The effect is a visual trick produced by one block after another rotating, not by the panels actually moving down the ribbon.
Goki recommends the Magic Rattlesnake for children aged 4 and over. The small ribbon connectors mean it is not suitable for younger children or those who still mouth objects. Adult supervision is advisable for children at the lower end of the age range.
No batteries or assembly are required. The toy arrives ready to use straight from the box - simply hold the red head panel between thumb and forefinger and tilt your wrist to set the cascading motion going. The wooden panels and ribbons are pre-assembled at the factory.
