Frequently Asked Questions

The wheel runs from mains power only - a UK adapter with the correct voltage for the motor is included in the box. Batteries cannot be substituted, as the motor requires a stable mains supply to spin the wheel at sufficient speed for throwing clay.
The 32-page illustrated instruction booklet guides children through making a bowl, a pot, a mug and a plate. A spare wheel tray is included so a second piece can be started on the wheel while the first is set aside to air-dry, which typically takes several hours depending on thickness and room temperature.
Buki sells separate air-drying clay refills (reference 5421) that are compatible with this studio. The set uses standard air-drying clay, so third-party air-dry clay in a similar consistency can also be used - no kiln or oven is needed at any stage.
